Osu is one of the six coastal neighborhoods in the Greater Accra Region; these consist of La, Teshie, Nungua, Tema, Accra, and Osu.

Osu has two main sections; Oxford Street, which is one of Accra’s main shopping and recreational districts, secondly – the residential area which is located a little at the outskirts of the Oxford street. This neighborhood is home to Ghana’s Osu Castle (formerly Christiansborg Castle), which served as the nation’s seat of government in the 19th, and 20th century even till today in addition to the Jubilee House. Further into Osu’s Oxford Street is a wide-ranging pick of vendors offering various Ghanaian and African inspired artifacts for sale; this has contributed to making it a great tourist attraction for many Ghanaian souvenirs.

For the nocturnal crew, Osu is also known for its extensive selection of pubs, nightclubs, casinos and restaurants to suit every preference and budget. There’s the recently opened Shisha Lounge for all the shisha lovers, which also turns into a nightclub on some nights with good food for those cravings. Venus, Republic, Crossroads and Purple pub, just to mention a few are great places for a drink. Osu also has some of Accra’s best hangouts and nightclubs; these include Bella Roma, Firefly, Diamonds, etc.

Foodies are not left out of the fun, for those occasions when you crave Ghanaian staples Osu has Buka Restaurant and Mazera just to mention a few. Mamma Mia’s also offers amazing authentic Italian pizza and Chez Clarisse is another great ‘hidden’ Ivorian spot for authentic francophone food. For your sandwiches and salads, there’s also the Sunshine Salad Bar and Deli France. Dynasty, Regal, and Noble House are some of the restaurants that offer Chinese cuisine and other fast food joints like: Frankie’s, KFC and the Osu Food Court.

For Business obligations, Oxford Street also has all major banks with 24hr ATMs available, fashion showrooms, hospitals and clinics, telecommunication offices and the recently opened Osu Mall.
