Dzorwulu Locality Profile
Great location for individuals and families that like the quiet life. Also very well located so as to easily access other parts of Accra with very little stress. Thriving businesses abound in this neighbourhood, in the hospitality and hotellerie industry mostly.
Home to one of Ghana's former presidents, Dzorwulu is a relatively beautifully planned residential area catering to the middle and upper classes of Accra society and located to the north of Accra Central. It is bordered by Achimota to the north; Spintex Road and Airport City to the east; Lapaz, Darkuman, Tesano, Fadama and Akweteyman to the west; and Roman Ridge, Kotobabi and Nima to the south.
Local Life
residences in this neighbourhood are walled and have hired private security guards, which makes it a haven for the more security conscious. According to residents here, there are lots of Nigerians and Ivorians in this neighbourhood.
However, some residents complain "Everything is too expensive in this area". From food, services and rent. A 1 bedroom apartment in Dzorwulu can be found for upwards of GH¢300 per month.
If you are looking for a hotel to stay in or spend some quality time alone, with friends or with family, a few really good ones of note in this locality are Marvel's (mini golf, breakfast); the very classy African Regent Hotel, and the strategically located Fiesta Royale Hotel. There are numerous pubs and drinking spots all over Dzorwulu, but for the more fun loving members of society who love the nightlife, the famous aphrodisiac nightclub is a must. No questions!
Transport:
Within Dzorwulu, you're most likely to find Circle-bound trotros. If you are not headed in that direction and do not want to take taxis (which are available in abundance), you will have to make your way to Dzorwulu junction or to the Expresso (telecom company) building opposite the Fiesta Royale Hotel to get a trotro to other parts of Accra. Be mindful, though, that after 9pm, it is very unlikely you will find a trotro within Dzorwulu. Some workers we spoke to in the neighbourhood, while very glad about the ease with which they get public transport (taxi and trotro) to and from Dzorwulu during the day, complained about getting a reasonable price from taxi drivers at dusk when it's time to go home after close of work. For lunch they like the food prepared in all the nearby restaurants and for local food, they recommended the food vendor opposite "BodyTalk" as having really nice food.
Schools
Dzorwulu has some really good schools like: Dzorwulu Junior High School, King of Kings International School, Alsyd Academy, The Honey Bunnies International School, Galaxy International Pre-School, Fanida International School, Englebert School and many others.
